With Deventer and Twello within reach, the Nieuw Bellinkhof estate has been developed on the IJssel. An ensemble is being built of four modern country houses. The first house, also the main house, has already been realized. The basis for the four country houses consists of simple geometric volumes with an informal, rough appearance. A connecting element is that the houses are largely made of a mixed, anthracite-colored brick. However, some other materials have also been used in the first house. The detailing is minimalist.
At the main house, a conscious effort has been made to achieve a slightly more formal, more monumental design than the other buildings. The house derives its monumentality in part from its position within the estate. The house is slightly higher and is centrally located. The design of the landscape also emphasizes this monumentality. The formal driveway runs straight through the house, as it were. The entrance is reached from this incision in the landscape and the basement of the building. This entrance is on the ground floor. The residential functions are oriented as much as possible to the south and oriented in such a way that almost the entire estate can be seen from the various areas. By means of a loft and a raised ceiling in the kitchen, the office on the first floor is also spatially connected to the living function. This void emphasizes the monumental line of sight from the house over the southern part of the estate. All storage spaces are included in the building, so that there is no need to install a separate outbuilding.
